What is ESG?
ESG stands for environmental, social, and governance. ESG factors and sustainability have become essential considerations for businesses and governments worldwide and provides a framework for a more resilient and sustainable way of doing business. Encompassing a range of considerations, ESG serves to identify, measure, report on and improve the impact a business has on the world around it and the communities in which it operates.

Though the terms ESG and Sustainability are used interchangeably, they are distinct in meaning, scope and in application and this distinction must be noted. ESG is a standardised framework or set of tools for assessment and, in contrast, sustainability is a broad principle that encompasses a range of responsible business practices or responsible government policies.

Why ESG for my business?
When a company has an ESG framework, it helps identify, organise, analyse, prioritise and accordingly guide decisions on various business risk. It also enhances the reputation of the business as it indicates, especially to investors, stakeholders and prospective partnerships, that the business has a transparent plan which focuses on helping the environment, supporting diversity and equal opportunities, and ensuring ethical business decisions. Companies have a responsibility to their employees, customers, and the communities in which they operate. An ESG framework helps to address this.
